Please join us in welcoming Jessica Garcia, Project Next Alumni Board Member. Jessica is a current high school counselor in the community, was raised in North County, San Diego, and identifies as a lifelong first-generation learner. Her parents emigrated to Southern California as agricultural farm workers, with education only through middle school. She understands the transformative power of education and the importance of hands-on accessibility to early college and career exploration in shaping life trajectories.
Growing up, the support she received from her educators in navigating the complexities of post-secondary planning fueled her passion to be a beacon of support for other students. This journey ultimately led her to earn undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Education with an emphasis in Learning and Behavioral Studies from the University of California, Riverside. Then, to the University of San Diego where she earned her Masters in School Counseling which also marks her beginnings with Project Next. Working firsthand with Project Next as a Financial Aid Coach allowed her to connect with students in her commitment to mitigate the barriers students face and bridging the knowledge gap for post-secondary opportunities. She has witnessed firsthand the lasting impact of the resources that Project Next can have on the future of the students served. She looks forward to working with Project Next in her commitment to uplift and empower the next generation of leaders and is humbled to continue to serve the North County community.
